Major archaeological finds during the Victorian period spurred revivals of ancient Greek, Roman, Egyptian and Etruscan jewelry styles, among others. Cameos and mosaics surged in popularity, and were often created as souvenirs for visitors to ancient ruins.

The emerging middle class also created a new demand for Revival jewelry, which for the first time began to be made in large quantities for the mass market.
