Lip Piercing
A lip piercing, also called a labret, or any piercing surrounding the mouth is relatively simple to perform. The amount of pain associated with lip piercings is different for every individual. Those with thicker lips will obviously have more flesh to pierce through and may experience more pain and longer healing time.
Keep in mind that any piercing surrounding the mouth area needs both surface facial and inner oral aftercare to keep it infection-free. Sea salt is great for inner mouth cleaning. Just put a pinch of sea salt in a cup of warm water and swish around your mouth or apply it directly to the piercing with a cotton swab.
Men must anticipate difficulty shaving during the healing period of any facial piercing. Women who wear make up must also keep their new piercing clean and free of makeup residue.
Labret - located centrally below the bottom lip. If the jewelry irritates your teeth or gums, be sure to contact your piercer immediately to get a replacement piece of jewelry.
Medusa - located in the indentation in the center of, and above the upper lip.
Monroe - also called the Madonna or beauty mark piercing. Monroes are placed on either corner of the upper lip to resemble a beauty mark.
Cheek - this piercing simulates a dimple on your cheek. A cheek piercing can be applied to the left or right side of your face.
