Rose Diamond Cuts
The rose diamond cut is believed to have been developed in India during the 1500s. The facets of a rose cut diamond resemble the petals of a rosebud and radiate out from the center in multiples of six facets - up to 24 faceted patterns.
The single rose cut is faceted on the of the diamond and is flat at the bottom. The double rose cut diamond is faceted on both the top and the bottom half of the diamond.

In contrast, modern brilliant cut diamonds have a closed culet, a smaller crown and larger table, as shown to the right.
