A Certificate of Authenticity as issued by the Gem Certification and Appraisal Lab (GCAL) serves as verification of a diamond's quality.
Some diamonds are certified by GCAL in addition to being graded by the GIA or AGSL. This provides you with a separate authoritative analysis of your diamond.
A GCAL certification warrants that a diamond meets the grades and measurements stated in a GIA or AGSL grading report within recognized gemological tolerances.
The elements of a GCAL Certificate of Authenticity include:
Actual size photo – A photo of the diamond at its actual size.
Photomicrograph – A photo of the diamond taken at 50X power from top and bottom.
Laser inscription photo – If your diamond has been inscribed, a photo of the laser inscription taken at 50X power magnification is included.
Proportion diagram – A diagram noting a diamond's actual proportions and measurements. These measurements are used to determine the cut grade.
Diamond Grading Analysis – Notes the shape, measurements, carat weight, and cut grade based on its proportions, polish, symmetry, color and clarity grades.
Certification Statement – A statement signed by the GCAL laboratory director verifying the quality of the diamond.
