Each diamond produces a unique pattern like a fingerprint. The process takes only a few minutes and is highly recommended. Gemprint has played an important role in the recovery of lost and stolen diamonds.
Some jewelers offer Gemprint for free. Otherwise, the cost is around $50. There are hundreds of Gemprint locations in the United States. Call 1-888-GEMPRINT for more information.
Protection with Laser Inscriptions
Several gemological laboratories offer laser inscription services, whereby an inscription is eteched on the girdle of the diamond. Laser inscriptions are usually seen under magnification only, and can include the diamond grading report number.
