Marquise Diamonds
Marquise diamonds are boat-shape or football-shape.
The term "marquise" came from a legend of the Marquise of Pompadour that the Sun King wanted a diamond polished into the shape of the mouth of the Marquise. The typical marquise brilliant diamond contains 56 facets.
Buying Tip: A poorly-cut marquise diamond is most often detectable by a bow-tie shadow effect.
