Duke of Devonshire emerald
The Duke of Devonshire emerald is highly blemished and as such could not withstand cutting because of these inclusions. This emerald is is two inches square and weighs 1384 carats. It is deep green in color and was given to the Duke of Devonshire by the Emperor of Brazil in 1836. This emerald was discovered in Muzo, Columbia.
Crown of Andes emerald
The Crown of Andes features numerous emeralds. The gold frame itself weighs over 100 pounds and is set with 453 emeralds taken from Inca treasures. The main emerald of the crown weighs 45 carats and 17 pear-shaped emeralds hang from the crown. All the emeralds together total 1500 carats.
Patricia emerald
The Patricia emerald was named in honour of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, the Emerald Isle. The Patricia emerald was found in 1921 in Chivor and weighs 632 carats. It resides in the Museum of Natural History in New York.
Gachala emerald
The Gachala emerald weighs 858 carats and was given to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington by the New York jeweller Harry Winston.
