Like diamonds, colored gemstones have natural inclusions that decrease the apparent clarity of the gemstone. Gemstone clarity is measured using a jeweler's loupe under 10X magnification.

Watch out for inclusions that reach the surface of a gemstone, particlarly in the table, as they can pose durability problems for the gemstone.
