Citrine
Citrine is a form of yellow quartz, ranging in color from a lemony yellow to a dark brown. In natural citrine, the color is a result of of iron. More often, citrine is heat-treated amethyst that has turned a golden color.
Natural citrine is quite rare. Citrine is sometimes referred to as citrine topaz or quartz topaz, but is not topaz at all.
Orange citrine, sometimes called Madeira citrine after the color of the wine, was valued in times past. Today, people prefer a lighter, more lemony color.
