Jewelry Bar Setting
The bar setting, or bar-set, is similar to the channel setting, and combines a classical and contemporary look. Instead of prongs, each diamond or gemstone is held in the ring by a thin bar, which is shared between two stones.
As opposed to the channel setting, the diamonds or gemstones are set in channels across the ring, with the stones exposed at the edges instead of being secured in metal. Bar-set diamonds can get loose or chipped with repeated banging.
