Jewelry Bezel Setting
bezel setting for diamond rings

In a bezel setting, or tube setting, a rim holds and completely encircles the diamond. Bezels can have straight or scalloped edges, or can have any shape that accommodates the stones.

If a yellow gold bezel is used, it can reflect the color into the gemstone, causing white diamonds to appear less white. A gold bezel can make rubies and emeralds look more intense in color however.

A variation on the bezel setting is the collet setting, which looks similar but uses gold tubing for the bezel.
