Jewelry Channel Setting at Diamonds Gemstones Jewelry
Jewelry Channel Setting
channel setting for diamond ring

The channel setting is often used for wedding bands, but may also be used to accent larger center diamonds and gemstones. The diamonds are set in a channel of vertical walls with no metal separating the stones.

Advantages

  • protects the girdle area
  • provides a smooth ring surface

Disadvantages

  • good for many stones
  • more expensive than a prong setting
  • doesn't protect as well as some settings

In certain cases, the channel completely encircles the ring so that the ring has a continuous row of diamonds.
