Jewelry Flat Top Setting at Diamonds Gemstones Jewelry
Jewelry Flat Top Setting

In a flat-top setting, a diamond or gemstone is placed into a hole in the flat top portion of the ring and then held in place with small pieces of soldered metal at the diamond's girdle. These metal pieces sometimes take the shape of beads

The flat-top setting is similar to the flush setting, except the method of stone fitting is different.

Advantages

  • protects the girdle area
  • provides a smooth ring surface

Disadvantages

  • is more expensive than prong settings
