Jewelry Flush Setting at Diamonds Gemstones Jewelry
Jewelry Flush Setting

In a flush setting, a diamond or gemstone is placed into a grooved, tapered hole in the ring. The grooves hold the girdle and then the surrounding metal is pressed and hammered around the opening to secure the diamond.

When the center diamond is set in a moderate to high metal dome, it is called a Gypsy setting.

Advantages

  • protects the girdle area
  • provides a smooth ring surface

Disadvantages

  • is more expensive than prong settings
  • high risk for damaging stones
