Because moissanite is produced artifically, it does not have the same types of inclusions that real diamonds have. And unlike cubic zirconia (CZ), which is totally flawless & colorless, moissanite is slightly darker and has some very slight flaws visible under magnification.
While the diamond grading scale does not technically apply to moissanite, for the purpose of comparison most jewelry experts will compare moissanite to diamonds in the VS1-VVS clarity range and in the G-J color range.
Moissanite is less dense than diamond so weighs slightly less than diamond. So, all other things being equal, a 1 carat moissanite stone would look slightly larger than a 1 carat diamond.
Moissanite gemstones are such a close match to diamonds that even skilled jewelers cannot tell the two apart. Charles & Colvard's patented tester is the only recommended instrument to distinguish moissanite from real diamonds.
