Synthetic Sapphires at Diamonds Gemstones Jewelry
Synthetic Sapphires

Synthetic sapphires are sapphires that are produced in a laboratory. Unlike simulated sapphires, which look like sapphires but differ from natural sapphires physically and chemically, synthetic sapphires duplicate natural sapphires entirely.

Today, the Verneuil process is used to produce synthetic sapphires. This process involves placing molten liquids in tear-shaped molds to crystallize. Synthetic sapphires are very difficult to tell about from natural sapphires without the use of specialized equipment and testing.

Here a some names of synthetic sapphires on the market today:

  • Linde sapphires
  • Verneuil sapphires
